The 16th Nordic-Baltic Energy Transition Forum, organized by EEL Events took place on 18th November in Tallinn bringing together leading investors, developers, corporates, and policymakers to explore the evolving renewable energy landscape in the Nordic and Baltic regions, offering insights into trends, transactions, and strategies accelerating the clean energy transition.

Key Highlights and Discussions

  • Collaborative Energy Futures – Ignitis Group, Sunly, Kehua, Litgrid, Energy Exemplar:
    The opening panel explored how energy leaders from across the region are building synergies to achieve shared energy goals. Discussions addressed regulatory bottlenecks, coordinated investment strategies, and shaping a unified voice for resilient and sustainable energy systems.
  • Offshore Wind Pipeline – Deep Wind Offshore, Saare 1 Offshore Wind Project, Utilitas Wind, Euroports Group B.V.:
    Developers and financiers discussed near-term offshore wind projects, procurement strategies, and deployment challenges. Key insights included transmission bottlenecks, supply chain considerations, and lessons learned from projects expected online in the next 2–5 years.
  • Hydrogen and Ammonia Deployment – Liquid Wind, Blastr Green Steel, BHG – Estonia, Ministry of Climate Estonia:
    The panel examined scalable clean fuel projects, including hydrogen and ammonia. Experts addressed infrastructure, regulatory, and market readiness challenges to support investment and full-scale project deployment.
  • Innovative PPAs and Energy Storage – Winda, Alight Finland, Ignitis, Bird & Bird:
    Discussions focused on Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) innovations, energy storage solutions, and grid-responsive consumption to manage price volatility and ensure reliable renewable energy contracts.
  • Solar + Storage Integration – Aurora Energy Research, Green Genius, Kehua, Gridle | Elisa Industriq, Forus Oy, NORD/LB:
    Experts explored the combination of solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) as a key pillar for stabilizing the grid and supporting renewable scale-up. The conversation included deployment optimization, overcoming barriers, and enabling profitable, grid-compatible solutions.
  • M&A and Investment Opportunities – Cranmore Partners, BaltCap Infrastructure Fund, Ilmatar, EY-Parthenon, European Energy A/S, Fortum:
    Panelists reviewed recent transactions, deal flow, and valuation trends across renewable energy platforms. The discussion highlighted how M&A is being used to consolidate growth, enter new markets, and accelerate the region’s energy infrastructure build-out.
  • Financing the Energy Transition – Watson Farley & Williams, P Capital Partners, Olana Energy, NIB, AB Svensk Exportkredit, EIB:
    The forum concluded with a focus on de-risking investments and unlocking large-scale financing through innovative tools and blended finance, involving governments, multilateral institutions, and private investors.

The event provided valuable opportunities for networking, collaboration, and deal origination. The day concluded with a drinks reception, fostering connections among investors, developers, corporates, and financial institutions.
