ollowing the success of the 7th annual Invest in Turkey Forum 2019,  the 8th edition willl get the key players together again on 21st April 2020 at Park Plaza London Waterloo, London. EEL Events is delighted to announce that the two last panel sessions of the Forum will be held at the UK Parliement, following a keynote speech by one of respective MP’s. As usual, the conference will bring on board series of round table sessions where international lenders, developers, investors and sponsors will discuss new investment trends and opportunities in Turkey. From the update on the latest infrastructure and public-private partnerships, to debt restructuring in opportunities in the energy and construction sectors, this event will bring you a full day of inspiring talks and will put you in contact with all key players in the market.

It has been an exciting few years in the region’s most active PPP and corporate restructuring sector. The Invest in Turkey Forum will look at these opportunities and issues that are currently hotly debated overseas and in the country. We will bring you face to face with key expert speakers from across the industry who will reveal the latest insight into where the new opportunities lie across PPP in Turkey in 2020 and beyond.

Hasan DemirhanHasan Demirhan

Vice President Banking, Black Sea Trade and Development Bank

Currently, Mr. Demirhan serves as Vice President Banking of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank responsible for managing a wide range of financing activities of the Bank, which are mainly, project financing, loans, trade financing, equity investments, credit lines and various types of guarantees provided to the member countries. He took up his duties on July 17, 2018.
Hasan Demirhan started his professional career in the banking sector in 1987 as Internal Auditor at Etibank in Ankara, Turkey. In 1997 he became General Manager at the Kalkinma Investment and Securities Company in Istanbul. in 1999, Mr. Demirhan joined the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah, KSA, as Senior Internal Auditor and made his career at the Treasury Department to become Director of the Department in 2009, overseeing IsDB’s extensive funding, investment, financial management, and corresponding banking relationships. In 2016 he took the duties of Director for Financial Policies and Planning Analytics responsible for Bank’s liquidity, credit rating exercises, balance sheet management, strategic financial planning and financial policies development. Mr. Demirhan was a member of IsDB’s Committees on Assets and Liabilities, Investment, and Risk Management, and represented IsDB on the Supervisory Board of Bosna Bank International in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mr. Demirhan graduated from the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of the Hacettepe University in Ankara and holds an MBA degree in Banking Administration from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.
Mr. Demirhan is a Turkish national, born in 1964. He speaks Turkish, English, and Arabic.
He is married and has three children.

Emma Edhem is an Alderman of the City of London Corporation (the 5th woman to be elected – the Corporation is over 850 years old), Lead Scrutiniser for Public Order and Strategic Firearms on the City of London Police Authority, Governor of the City of London School for Girls, Governor of Christ’s Hospital, Governor of Royal Bridewell Hospital, on the Accession Council to the Throne, Committee of the Honourable Artillery Company (they house 2 active regiments – the Light Cavalry and the Reserves), Liveryman (on the Court of The Worshipful Company of Woolmen), Chairman of Arete Global Group Ltd (strategic global facilitators for trade and investment), Deputy Head of International Law at No 5 Chambers (barrister, mediator and arbitrator – specialising in geopolitical, commercial law and fraud, bribery and corruption), and of course Chairman of the TBCCI (first woman to hold the role). Alderman Emma Edhem was awarded the 2016 Grassroot Diplomat Award for outstanding politicians, in the Business Driver category, for leadership of the TBCCI and in support of businesses and corporations. She was also the recipient of CEO Today Business Women Awards 2018 and the ‘Honour of Community Involvement’ Eduplus Award in November 2013 in Turkey.

Ersin Nazalı, who worked as a tax inspector for nine years under the Tax Inspection Board, is an expert in tax and corporate law, especially on tax disputes, transfer pricing, tax inspections and tax-free restructuring of companies. As of 2012, Ersin works both as a tax consultant and attorney in the private sector. He has been listed as a leading tax advisor and attorney in Turkey by Legal 500 and International Tax Review. Ersin has more than 80 articles and 5 books on tax law.

Kaan TurkerKaan Türker

Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Turkerler Holding

Mr Turker is the President of Turkerler Energy Group and also a Board Member at Turkerler Holding which holds companies in Construction, Energy, Healthcare, Textile and Real Estate Development in Turkey.
Under his management the Energy Group has become one of the key players in Turkey’s renewable energy market with its immense investments in Wind, Geothermal and Hydropower Energy. He also manages one of Turkey’s leading electricity distribution companies, VEDAS in the eastern part of Turkey with more than two million consumers.

Mr Turker has recently founded an IT company called T-Solutions with international participation to provide high technology solutions to businesses. He is recently steering a corporate restructuring study within Turkerler Holding and its companies in order to continue playing a leading role in Turkey’s growth.

Mr Turker has joined the family business at the Energy Group upon graduation from Bilkent University with a BA degree in Economics and he has been regularly attending business programs at Insead and IMD as well as an eMBA program at IMD.

Oguz EngizOguz Engiz

Mr. Engiz has been working in the healthcare sector as an executive, consultant, lecturer and NGO leader for nearly 30 years. He started his career at World Bank financed health projects in Turkey and moved into private hospital sector later on building and managing greenfield hospitals. Aside from his profeesional life, he has lectured strategic healthcare management classes at various universities and has taken leadership roles in various NGOs such as Turkish Private Hospitals Association and Health Volunteers-Turkey. He is currently a Board Member at Turkerler Holding companies building three hospitals with 7.000 beds under Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. Upon completion of construction the companies will manage hospitals under management contract for 24 years. Mr Engiz has studied economics at Bogazici University and holds MBA degree from University of Massachusetts.

Kerem GuzelKerem Güzel

Vice President, Middle East & Africa, Limak

Kerem is Corporate Finance Director in Limak Investments and responsible for international debt and equity capital market transactions including public offerings, debt issuance and M&A transactions. He joined Limak in 2007 and worked nearly all of the transactions that Limak group has realized in debt and equity capital markets. Recently, he has been actively involved in the financing of Istanbul New Airport, Northern Marmara Highway and Canakkale Bridge and Highway projects which have a total debt size of 12 bn USD. Kerem holds a Masters Degree both in Business Administration and also Materials Engineering from Sabanci University and graduated from Middle East Technical University.

Razvan DumitrescuRazvan Dumitrescu

Position: Associate, LC2
Background: Razvan joined the EBRD in 2014 via the IPP programme and had the opportunity to work as part of various teams: Financial Strategy, Capital Markets Development (LC2), Power & Energy (Istanbul) as well as President’s Office. Currently, Razvan works in the LC2 team and focuses on promoting capital markets transactions. Prior to joining the EBRD, Razvan worked for Erste Group as part of the Project Finance team (CEE) and Deutsche Bank in Structured Asset Finance (Amsterdam). He holds a Master’s degree in Finance & Investments from Rotterdam School of Management.

Batu CetinBatu Cetin

Country Head, Chairman of the Board SG Turkey, Societe Generale

Coming from a background in investment banking, Batu has served in various roles and positions in SG and until recently, he was the Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for SG Turkey, before taking over as Country Head of SG Turkey in March 2017. Batu is also the Senior Banker of SG responsible for the bank’s corporate and FI client portfolio in Turkey.

Batu was instrumental in the successful signing and closing of a great deal of transactions, including IFM’s acquisition of 41% stake in Mersin Port for USD 869m from Akfen Holding (pending closing in 2017), Abraaj’s acquisition of a significant majority stake in NetLog in 2017, successful sale of Total Turkey to Demiroren Holding in 2016 (for USD 325m), acquisition of Kumport for Cosco of China in 2016 (USD 1.5bn) sale of Alternatif Bank to Commercial Bank of Qatar (USD 650m, in 2015), acquisition of Sirma Su for Danone (2015), acquisition of 37% stake in Akenerji for CEZ (USD 810m deal), among various other successful assignments

Prior to joining SG, Batu worked at Merrill Lynch (New York and London) and Finansbank (Istanbul), where he was involved in execution of numerous transactions concerning mergers, acquisitions, privatizations, leveraged buyouts and public offerings.

Batu holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from ODTU, an MBA with concentration in Finance and Accounting from New York University, Stern School of Business and a Master of Science in Finance from Bilkent University.

Pietro Crescini, Director, SMBC Global Structured Finance. Pietro is a director in the SMBC structured finance department in London. His primary focus is to lead the originating and structuring project finance transactions in the wider EMEA region, including Turkey. During his 13 years in SMBC he has been working in Milan, Tokyo and now London, having led the closing of cutting edge transactions such as Adana hospital (the first-ever Turkish hospital PPP to close and IJ PPP Deal of the Year 2014) and the USD 1.8 bn Ikitelli hospital (PFI &IJ PPP Deal of the Year 2017) in addition to Bursa hospital and Yozgat hospital.

Country Advisor for the United Kingdom, Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey

Based in London, Mr. Özdemir is serving as the Country Advisor for the United Kingdom at the Investment Office (aka Invest in Turkey), the official organization of the Presidency for promoting Turkey’s investment opportunities to the global business community and providing free-of-charge assistance to international investors before, during and after their entry into Turkey.
Before joining Invest in Turkey in 2011, he worked for private sector companies and gained hands-on experience in investment project management in large capital projects and business consulting experience in supply chain management. He received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University and Sabanci University, respectively.
